We operate an equipment service for people with hearing loss on behalf of North Somerset Council. This service offers practical help to people with hearing problems.

Your doctor will arrange for a hearing test and the audiologist will issue hearing aids if appropriate. However, if you still have difficulties in your day to day life –  hearing the door bell, alarm clock or listening to the TV – we can offer advice to make things easier.

We’ll assess your needs in your own home and offer practical solutions to many everyday problems.

We can:

  • demonstrate equipment
  • help you to choose items that work for you.
  • carry out any installation
  • and we may be able to help with repair and maintenance after installation.

The assessment and the installation of any equipment is free of charge, but you will need to buy the equipment you choose.  We can advise on sources of funding if needed and we sometimes have second-hand equipment available for a donation.

The Equipment Service does not offer advice on hearing aids or provide hearing aid batteries.

The types of equipment we can provide includes:

  • Door Bells
  • Alarm Clocks
  • Telephones
  • Portable and Static Hearing Loops
  • TV Listening Devices
  • Alerts
